Setting up the Papercut MF integration

This article provides a detailed breakdown of the steps required to link Zapfloor with Papercut, which operates on-premises, meaning it runs on a local server within the building, necessitating a more advanced technical setup. Let's dive into the necessary steps to kickstart and configure the integration while exploring the available functionalities.

Network configuration

WHO: Network administrator

To be able to reach the papercut server, some rules on network level need to be setup.

Set up port forwarding from the external IP address and whitelist the following IP addresses: 54.194.86.204, 54.194.98.136, 54.74.59.23.

Forward traffic to the local network IP address where the Papercut server is located, using ports 9191 and 9192.

Ensure to enable both incoming and outgoing traffic for HTTPS and HTTP requests.

Follow the steps in Zapfloor to add two configurations by navigating to Options -> Configuration Editor:

  • Health.api.key
  • Auth.webservices.auth-token

In the Papercut settings, set up Mobility Print as described below. Ensure to disable authentication per job to prevent users from having to enter details daily. For more information, refer to this link: https://www.papercut.com/help/manuals/mobility-print/set-up/configure/configure-the-print-authentication-mode/

Additionally, disable unauthenticated printing in the Papercut settings. Navigate to Options -> Users/Group Sync and configure the following options:

  • On-Demand User Creation: Select "DO NOT CREATE THE USER AND DENY USAGE" for when the user does not exist.
  • Internal User Options: Enable internal users and restrict user creation to administrators only.

To allow access to our IP addresses, go to Options -> Advanced -> Add IP Addresses -> Allowed Web Service Providers and input the following IP addresses: 54.194.86.204, 54.194.98.136, 54.74.59.23.
