Reporting - Orders overview per product

This page explains the Orders by Product report and how its values are calculated. It describes what the numbers in the dashboard, charts, tables, and exports mean, so you can easily understand how the report is built and why the totals appear as they do.

1. Purpose of the report

The Orders by Product report provides an overview of order revenue and helps you understand how your orders contribute to revenue before invoice-level reporting. Use the report to analyse which products generate the most value, how order revenue changes over time, how much of the selected order value has been invoiced, and how revenue is distributed across products, product categories, and customers.

The report uses one shared dataset and the same filters across all views. As a result, the charts, table, and exports should show consistent results when the same filters are applied.

2. Available filters

Filter  Explanation
Date Includes orders with an order date inside the selected date range. By default, the report shows the current month and the two previous months.
Product category Limits the report to order lines belonging to the selected product category or categories.
Product Limits the report to the selected product or products.
Customer Limits the report to orders linked to the selected customer or customers.
Location  Limits the report to the selected location or locations. Users only see locations they have access to. If only one location is available to the user, this filter may be hidden.

3. Important calculation rules

The report includes all matching non-discarded orders, with date filtering and time grouping based on the order date. Discounts and credit lines are included and reduce the reported revenue, but they do not contribute to the sold quantity. Location access rights apply, so the report only includes data from locations the operator is allowed to access. Time-based views may include months or days with zero values to keep the timeline complete. Revenue totals are not converted between currencies, so use the currency filter when you want to analyse one currency at a time.

4. Charts and tables

Description  Explanation
Orders per product This ring chart shows how the selected order revenue is distributed across products. Each segment represents a product, with the segment value showing the product’s net order revenue and its percentage showing the product’s share of the total selected order revenue. The values are calculated by summing the matching order line values for each product, including the impact of discounts and credit lines.
Orders total This bar chart shows how total order revenue changes over time. The X-axis displays the months in the selected date range, based on the order date, while the Y-axis shows the total net order revenue for each month. Revenue is calculated by summing the matching order values for each month, including the reducing effect of discounts and credits. Months without revenue may still be displayed with a value of zero to keep the timeline complete.
Products per month/day This table shows product performance over time, with one row for each product and columns for each month or day in the selected date range, depending on the chosen view. Each period shows the product’s net order revenue and quantity sold. Revenue reflects the net order value for that product after discounts and credits, while quantity includes only order lines that represent an actual product sale. Periods without activity may still be displayed with zero values to provide a complete overview.
Orders invoiced This bar chart compares the total selected order value with the portion that has already been billed. Both bars show net order revenue: the total order value includes all matching orders, while the invoiced order value includes only matching orders that are linked to a non-draft invoice.
Product revenue per type This ring chart shows how the selected order revenue is distributed across product categories (product types). Each segment represents a product category, with the value showing its total net order revenue and the percentage showing its share of the selected total. The values are calculated by summing the matching order values for each product type, including the reducing effect of discounts and credits.
Product revenue per customer Shows which customers contribute to the selected order revenue. The Y-axis lists the customers, while the X-axis shows their net order revenue. Revenue is calculated by summing the matching order values for each customer, including the reducing effect of discounts and credits.

5. Exports

The export contains the same filtered data as the on-screen report. If the same filters are applied, the exported rows and totals should match the corresponding charts and table.
